Update

So my past project is over with...has been for a while, and I have finally gotten my profile back to normal.

My mom is better now, her recovery has taken months, she's still only 90%, but is doing far better than when she was diagnosed.

It is X-mas break now, hence the me actually having time to update, I have finished my first leg of student teaching.  I have spent the full year so far at Pleasant Hill HS.  A full month of the year I have spent as the actual teacher.  I taught two class periods and it was great!!  The subject was US History.

Starting in January I will be over at the middle school and will do the same thing that I have done since the school year started.  This time I will be teaching a block of geography and language arts.

My Mom

So my mom has been in the hospital for the last 9 days, finally heading home yesterday. She has Spinal Meningitis. The bacterial form can be deadly, fortunately she has the viral type. She is now at home recovering and doing far better than she was over the past week.

Temporary altered about me

As a teacher I have to do projects. Currently I am doing one that involves profiling characters on blogger. So as an example I set one up and my about me is temporarily altered to fit that.

Don't worry, I'll be normal again in a couple weeks!!!!

Some new..

So this is my first post in a while. I'm going to start making this a normal thing, just not used to it yet.
I've started my student teaching out at Pleasant Hill High School, in Pleasant Hill, Oregon. It's about 15 miles SE of Eugene. It's the smallest school ever!! Well, for me anyway, 320 students. But it's cool. I'm a few weeks in now and really starting to get comfortable in the role. I'm only a week away from my first unit that I'll be teaching.

My July

So as July is drawing to a close I am left with a lot on my mind.
Some is simple things....sports for one thing, and other things not entirely simple.
Sports
I was thrilled when the Mariners finally parted ways with Richie Sexson...finally.
Their season has been so rough but at least they have made one smart move.
I've been watching the Tour de France daily.....and
WOW!! The last few days have just been incredible!!
It's almost as if Lance Armstrong was still taking home the victory.
It has really been that exciting.
Now, tomorrow will decide the Tour.
Two men and an Individual Timetrial, winner takes the Tour.
The next day they ride into Paris, and that's more of a parade than anything else.
School
I've now finished the first half of my first term of my Masters program.
The first half was pretty time consuming but otherwise good.
I only have one class this second half, but for being just one class, it sure is requiring a lot of time.
Life
With school its been really hard to have much time for anything.
My girlfriend, Sarah, is on her third weekend in a row where she's gone and done something and left me behind. Next weekend will be the same thing again. It sucks.
On a happy note, while I've never been in bad shape, its been a few years since I'd say I was in good shape.
I've been making real progress on being in that condition again!
I've started walking to and from school daily, and its a pretty good distance.
You throw in a backpack and my quick pace, the 2k walk becomes a pretty good workout.
Also helping the situation is having a pool less than a hundred feet away in my apartment complex.
I try to swim at least a few times a week and mostly do laps.
Been doing a little bit in the healthy food department as well, and about to step that up a lot.
Starting Monday, Sarah and I are going to try out a fruit diet for a couple weeks.
